Kickboxing

In modern times kickboxing has become a very popular way of quickly improving fitness and having a great workout.  Kickboxing can be considered a hybrid martial art formed from the combination of elements of various traditional styles, and PUMA kickboxing is based upon our heritage in Taekwon-do coupled with modern boxing styles and scientific training methods. This results in a kickboxing system with powerful kicking and punching techniques involving all of the major muscle groups in the body, guaranteeing a thorough workout and improved fitness.

We run kickboxing classes only at our Gravesend location, and for students aged 13 and above. We encourage younger students to join our Taekwon-do classes instead, as we believe these offer all the benefits of the kickboxing classes with the additional discipline and

At Harper Martial Arts you'll learn genuine kickboxing skills and techniques in a safe and friendly environment. We fully believe that learning proper technique is the foundation upon which the student can build real skills and learn their art.

Our Kickboxing syllabus uses a the same structured belt and grading system as our Taekwon-do classes, ensuring you get a great learning experience. We have regular gradings before an external examiner who will determine whether the students have reached the required ability to be promoted.

For students who would like to enjoy the more competitive side of the sport, there are regular competitions and tournaments available. Sparring in class is strictly controlled and fully supervised, and is used as a tool to demonstrate the technique we have learned rather than a reason to have a fight. The use of approved safety equipment is compulsory for all sparring.
